Shure Wireless Headset Microphone PG30
I find boom microphones
uncomfortable and physically restraining when singing. I mean, you're tethered
two inches from the damn things, your head, and mouth, literally stuck to a wind
sock. Not necessary!
Just got a Shure wireless headset and am I glad. It
totally frees you up from worrying about distance from the mic, or even thinking
about the darn mic. And when you're singing, the last thing you need to be is
rooted in one spot for minutes or hours. I don't know why so many stage
performers stick with boom mics...not me any more.
The Shure Performance Gear PG30 costs about $300, and
that includes the headset, belt pack, and power pack, so it's really plug and
play; I had it operating within five minutes and didn't even read the
instructions...a man, you know.
It works flawlessly and the sound is as good as my
Shure Beta 58 which is the performance workhorse of all time. I'm sure the PG30
can't be used as a hammer like the Beta 58, but I don't really want to drive
nails with my mics, so not to worry about it being a little less
durable.
Following is relevant info, but if you're tired
of banging into mic stands and feel deprived that you can't move when you sing
or deliver a talk, go wireless...you will not be sorry.
