Pixlr Photo Editing Services & Software

Pixlr Photo Editing Services & Software

I love this company's "in the cloud" online photo editor!

No matter what your project, if you need to use photos, you'll likely want to tweak them for sizing, effects, etc. If so, you won't find a better program, even ones that cost a lot of money. Simply check this out: http://pixlr.com/editor/  It's what I used to work with the cover at left.

Pixlr's online editor is almost as good as Adobe, but it's free! Pixlr lets you size photos to any required dimension, add effects, isolate images, add vintage coloration, use layers, filters, and a hundred other visual options that can come in handy for any marketing initiative that requires photo visuals.

Another fantastic aspect of pixlr is that you don't have to buy or download anything; the entire photo editing process is done in "the cloud," so nothing is on your computer at all until you hit "save."
I'm not sure why more people don't know about Pixlr, but I'm sure it puts a crimp in Adobe's revenues once it's discovered. All of my eBook covers are created using shutterstock photos, Microsoft Office Publisher, and Pixlr and myecovermaker. With these four providers, you can do wonders.

Pixlr also provides software to capture images off of websites, another program for great special effects, a one-click image sharer, and more. Below is a recent blog excerpt worth reading; it announces something new on the horizon. If you work with visuals, It's worth keeping this company in a favourites folder:

4 years anniversary ...
Today four years ago I released pixlr.com, it was a Sunday and the following Monday was a day I hardly will forget, the response was massive and I knew I had something worth pursuing.. Well today four years later pixlr.com is without a doubt the world’s most popular online photo editing service serving millions of users every single day .. weird ..the last year alone we grew by another healthy 250% not counting the tens of millions mobile users we have on Pixlr-o-matic.

Yes it’s been another really good year, but it's not like we are going to stop anytime soon. We have a number of cool mobile apps coming this fall, some well deserved updates to Pixlr Editor as well as our other live apps so stay tuned :)

What not many people knows is that the first idea for pixlr some five years ago was to create a “photo-blog” a way to show off your stories with images, a part of that idea was to quickly fix the images with a editor .. The photo editor was so fun to build that pixlr ended up being just that.. no regrets I promise ;) anywhoo .. In the times where remakes are popular I’m happy to show a sneak peek of a product we will release “soonish” ..
